What happens during a dog grooming appointment?

1. Every grooming appointment begins with a hands-on assessment of your pet, and every service is customized specifically for your pet’s needs.

2. Your pampered pooch will receive a bath and massage with high quality, nourishing shampoo and conditioner. Additional options such as anal gland expression and tooth brushing are available during the bath as well.

3. Dogs are gently towel-dried after their bath. We then utilize our professional driers to dry your dog, ensuring their comfort with soft headbands called Happy Hoodies. We also adjust the intensity of our dryers for anxious pets and when drying their heads.

4. Once dry, dogs are then brushed extensively with proper brushes and combs. We also utilize fluff driers during brushing for a crisp finish.

5. When trimming dog nails, we go the extra mile by buffing nails to smooth sharp edges and prevent cracking.

6. Ears are gently cleaned with pet-safe cleaners, and ear hair may be plucked upon request.

7. Haircuts are performed according to the pet owner’s preferences. Our groomers have extensive knowledge with breed-specific trims! Whether your dog needs a full haircut or just a quick trim, we’ve got you covered! Learn more about our dog grooming packages.

Taylor Snyder

Pet Stylist

Taylor has been grooming since 2018. She joined the Smoochie Pooch family in March of 2023. Her grooming career started with bathing and watching other groomers work on Standard Poodles, and she instantly knew that’s what she wanted to do. Taylor is proud to provide great service by being certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.

She loves dog kisses, and her favorite part of grooming is seeing all of the happy, wagging tails greeting her every morning. Outside of work, you can find Taylor baking or spending time with her dog Riley.

Emma Duncan

Pet Stylist

Emma has been grooming since 2020. She joined the Smoochie Pooch family in April of 2023 after speaking with the owners and seeing their love for the business and their employees. Emma began grooming her English Springer Spaniel at home, fell in love with the process and became a professional pet groomer.

Emma received the Rising Star Groomer award at Paragon School for Grooming as well as a Pet Stylist certificate from Paragon. Her favorite part of grooming is giving dogs confidence and making them feel special. When not at work, you may find Emma working out, going on walks, watching movies or working on DIY projects.

Makayla Simpson

Pet Stylist

Makayla originally pursued nursing in college, but quickly realized that she couldn’t imagine doing anything but grooming for a career. She’s been grooming since 2018, and previously owned and managed the grooming salon Pristine Pups in Carmel. She quickly realized that managerial tasks took her away from actual grooming – the part she loves – so she found Smoochie Pooch to help out.

Pristine Pups is now Smoochie Pooch, and Makayla is back in the salon doing what she loves! Makayla says she reached out to Smoochie Pooch due to our family-first motto and the fact that we offer so many treatments for pets.

Outside of work Makayla enjoys fishing, camping, gardening and cooking. She has three dogs, Dutch (Heeler mix), Django (mutt) and Roux (Boxer), as well as two turtles and two catfish. Her favorite part about grooming is being able to make animals feel and look great and she loves bonding with pet parents along the way.

Brianna Lee

Pet Stylist

Brianna began her dog grooming career in 2024. She started as an apprentice with Smoochie Pooch and earned her grooming certificate shortly after. Inspired by a visit to a self-service pet wash station where she deshed her Chow mix, Brianna discovered her passion for grooming and so she made the switch from event planner to pet stylist. This experience reminded her of helping her mom groom her doodle, sparking the idea to pursue a career in pet grooming. She has loved it ever since.

Brianna has a special fondness for deshedding breeds, finding great satisfaction in watching the hair come out. Sadly, she recently lost her beloved Chow mix, Sami, who was 14 years old and her best friend growing up. Brianna is grateful to Sami for helping her find her passion. Now, she has a pit mutt named Winnie, who is 5 years old. In their spare time, they enjoy walking, kayaking, hiking and snuggling.

One of Brianna’s goals is to open her own grooming business once she refines her skills and gains more experience. She wants her customers to know that she will love and care for their dogs as if they were her own and that she and her fellow groomers are constantly learning and continuing their education. They always watch the dogs’ body language to ensure the best spa day possible.

Nicole Miller

Pet Stylist

Nicole began her grooming journey in 2019, inspired by her work at an animal hospital where she realized her desire to connect with pets on a personal level while supporting their health. Grooming offered the perfect blend of hands-on care and fulfilling work, allowing her to make a difference in each pet’s life. Nicole is trained in Pet First Aid and CPR, and one of her goals is to eventually start her own mobile grooming business.

Her favorite breeds to groom are Schnauzers and Golden Retrievers, but she has a soft spot for puppies of all kinds. Nicole loves helping puppies adjust to the grooming process and watching them grow more confident with each visit. She believes regular grooming is essential not only for a pet’s coat but also for their mental well-being.

At home, Nicole shares her life with two cats, Felix and Smudge, who are her constant snuggle buddies. Smudge even enjoys joining her on hikes in his backpack carrier! If Nicole weren’t a groomer, she’d likely be a baker, as she has a passion for sweets.
