Policy and Procedures

Appointment Policy

All Smoochie Pooch Mobile Pet Spa (Smoochie Pooch) grooming services are by appointment only, and our salons close when we are done grooming for the day.

Cancellation Policy

Smoochie Pooch requires a 24-hour minimum for the cancellation of your pet’s in-salon grooming appointment.  If the appointment is not cancelled prior to 24 hours, the client WILL be charged for the full appointment time.  If an appointment is made within 24 hours or on the day of the appointment, Clients will have one hour to cancel in order to avoid charges.

Mobile Spa appointments require a 48-hour minimum for cancellation due to routing and scheduling preparation.

This policy is strictly enforced.  Our groomers are commission based, so if you cancel, they don’t get paid.

Mobile Groomer Arrival Notice

Smoochie Pooch’s mobile service is scheduled in time blocks, which includes arrival times. Because of this the only arrival time that is exact is the first appointment of the day (8 AM). For all other scheduled times there is a two-hour arrival window, but we strive to be as prompt as possible.

Late Arrival

Arriving late for your scheduled groom time not only sets back your estimated pick up time but disrupts the groom times and expected pick up times for all your groomer’s clients. Please be advised that fees may be applied for late arrival times of 15 minutes or more.

Confirmations and Reminders

Smoochie Pooch uses multiple methods to confirm and remind you about your appointment. Appointment confirmations are sent once your time slot is scheduled with follow-up reminders sent 7 and 2 days prior. To ensure it is received, all messages are sent via e-mail and text message unless requested otherwise. If not confirmed, a customer service representative will reach out the day prior via phone call.

Text Message Confirmation

To confirm your appointment via text simply respond with the letter “C”. Any other message or correspondence will not be recognized as confirmed by our system and should be done via phone.

Matted Coats

Matted coats can cause a variety of skin & health problems. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on mats. The skin underneath is usually raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin.

Due to matting, your dog’s hair may need to be shaved extremely short to the skin. It may show signs of skin irritations and sores due to matting, wet undercoat and dirty coat. In order to take care of a dog that has not been groomed often enough, and is matted, the required grooming sessions may be long, stressful, or painful. There could be an additional fee of $10-60 to the grooming price for shaving off mats.

It is the goal of Smoochie Pooch and our groomers to make your pet’s grooming experience as stress free as possible. Due to the condition of your dog, Smoochie Pooch may determine that the only humane thing to do is to shave the dog’s coat down. This is a short clip, removing all the matting. Where feasible, we work to de-mat/brush out the dog’s coat, but only when it would not cause excessive pain and suffering to attempt to do so. There is a fee for dematting of $1 per minute, $60 per hour, in addition to the grooming price.

There is a strong chance that your pet’s skin will become irritated during the clipping process. The matted hair rests tightly against the skin – the only way of removing mats is to use a short blade to clip between the skin and mats. Your dog may be nicked and/or cut because the groomer has to work so closely to the skin to remove the matted coat. Our groomers are very careful, but the possibility of injury exists. Understanding these risks, Smoochie Pooch is authorized to proceed with the de-matting or shaving process.

Smoochie Pooch will be happy to show you how to care for your pet’s coat so that matting does not recur. Please schedule a follow-up appointment to speak with our groomers about the best methods for maintaining your dog’s coat.

Should my pet need veterinarian care after or during the process, I (the Pet Parent) agree to pay any and all veterinarian fees.
