Dog Grooming Add-ons

Looking for a little something extra for your pet? The following services are available at our Chagrin Falls salon as add-ons to a dog grooming package.

Our enzymatic toothpaste helps remove plaque, fight bad odors and prevent tartar buildup.

Good oral hygiene is essential for a fresh and healthy mouth. Our enzymatic toothpaste is designed to target plaque and tartar, while also freshening breath and supporting overall dental health. Adding a tooth brushing session to your dog’s grooming routine can give their oral care an extra boost.

While tooth brushing during grooming helps, we highly recommend brushing your pet’s teeth at home for even better results and long-lasting oral health.

Please note: This service is not available as a stand-alone offering and must be added to either a Basic or Complete Grooming Package.

Our Anal Gland Expression service is available on an as-needed basis to help maintain your pet’s comfort. We only perform external expression, which is a gentle, non-invasive technique that can assist with gland maintenance. Some dogs, especially smaller breeds, may need occasional help with this, while many can express their glands naturally.

This service is not included in our grooming packages, as not all dogs require it routinely. If internal expression is necessary, we recommend consulting your veterinarian for the proper care.

Please note: this service is an add-on and must be purchased in conjunction with either a Basic or Complete grooming package. It is not available as a stand-alone service.

Save with our bundled service of tooth brushing and anal gland expression during the same visit.

Tooth brushing helps maintain your pet’s dental health, while anal gland expression targets other important wellness needs. For details on each service, please refer to the descriptions above.

Please note: this bundle is not available as a stand-alone service and must be added to either a Basic or Complete grooming package.

Add extra trimming to your Basic Grooming Package with our “Extra Scissoring” add-on. This service goes beyond the light trim of the face, feet, and sanitary areas included in the Basic Package, offering additional trimming for areas like the chest, belly, tail and legs.

For breeds that require more detailed sculpting, like Pomeranians or Golden Retrievers, this add-on ensures your pet’s specific grooming needs are met.

Please note: In most cases, extra scissoring is not available as a stand-alone service and must be added to a Basic Grooming Package, though we can do a sanitary trim or face trim (corners of the eyes on breeds like Shi Tzus, bichons, or doodles for example) or a visor trim (bangs) separately without a full package.

A cleansing treatment designed to soothe dry skin and alleviate skin allergies.

Treat your pet to the ultimate skin-soothing experience with our Skin & Coat Detox with Nexderma— a gentle, vet-trusted system that calms irritation and brings out a healthy, shiny coat. Using Silvet Herbal Shampoo and Moisturizing Hydrocortisone Conditioner with nano-silver technology, this upgrade helps fight bacteria, yeast, and inflammation while hydrating sensitive skin. Better yet, this add-on service is available to cats and dogs!

Note: This is not available as a stand-alone service and must be purchased as an addition to either a basic or complete grooming package.

A three-step bathing process with extra brushing and carding to reduce shedding.

This treatment can reduce shedding by over 50%! It begins with conditioning, followed by shampooing and then another round of conditioning. Each step uses more shampoo, conditioner and water than a typical bath to ensure deep moisture and loosen the dead undercoat.

Afterward, your pet will undergo a blow-dry session combined with brushing to further eliminate excess hair. Once dry, our we use specialized tools to reduce hair buildup, leaving your pet with less shedding.

Please note: shedding may temporarily increase after the Deshed Treatment as loosened hair follicles are released, but it will subside within 24-48 hours.

Our non-toxic flea shampoo kills fleas on contact and is required if your pet has fleas.

Fleas can be a nuisance, causing discomfort for your pet and potentially infesting your home if left untreated. If fleas are found during your pet’s grooming appointment, this add-on service will be applied. Our safe, non-toxic flea shampoo eliminates fleas on contact, offering quick relief without harmful chemicals.

Please note: this service is not available as a stand-alone option and must be added to either a Basic or Complete Grooming Package.

Hair chalking is a pet-safe way to give your furry friend a fun, colorful makeover with simple designs. These temporary designs can be easily removed with a wash or a wipe using a damp towel. It’s a great option for adding some festive flair during the holidays!

Add a pop of vibrant color to your dog’s nails with our nail polish add-on service.

We offer a variety of fun shades to choose from, and we always use pet-safe nail polish to ensure your dog’s safety and well-being. After the grooming session is complete, our stylist carefully applies the polish and gives your pet time to dry.

Frequently asked questions

At Smoochie Pooch, you can choose from two grooming options. Our Complete Groom includes a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, brush out, and a full-body haircut. If you’re looking for something simpler, our Basic Groom includes bath, nail trim, ear clean, brush out, and trimming only of the face, feet, and potty areas. You also have the option of adding on additional services.

The answer to this question really depends on the breed of your dog, their lifestyle, and sometimes their age. Ideally, all dogs should be groomed every six to eight weeks to support their overall health and avoid matting. Regular grooming is a proactive step towards ensuring healthy skin, nails, ears, and coat.

Your dog should be booked in for a haircut if you notice their coat is looking dull and feeling overly oily or dry. Additionally, should you notice any tangles, mats, or hot spots or can smell an undesirable odor coming from their coat or fur, it’s time to make an appointment.

A double-coated dog has an outer layer of thicker hair and a different undercoat of thin, lighter hair. While this is often breed-specific, our highly trained breeders can recognize coats of all types and then groom accordingly. Double coated dogs can require extra time and attention so that their undercoat is fully brushed and doesn’t develop mats.

Prices are based on various factors such as breed, size, behavior, and condition of the coat. Clients also have the option of adding on additional services such as anal gland expression, shed relief, or deep conditioning. We can provide a quote over the phone and then provide a more accurate price at the time of your appointment.

Dog grooming refers to the hygienic care and cleaning of a dog. While some dog grooming can be completed at home, professional dog grooming is done by trained professionals that know how to properly care for a dog’s coat, nails, ears, and skin. Dogs of all breeds benefit from regular professional grooming.

Groomers have many tools that help keep dogs still during their appointment. As trained professionals, they know how to keep pets calm and comfortable, which helps dogs relax and move around less. In addition, our grooming tables have a non-slip surface, and a loop restraint (similar to a leash) may be used around a dog’s neck, if necessary.

What happens during a dog grooming appointment will largely depend on the service you have booked. A basic groom will include a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, brush out, and a hair trim around the face, feet, and potty areas. You can book a more complete groom as well as additional services such as toothbrushing or skin therapy.

It’s important to keep your pet groomed for their own sanitation and hygiene. Not only will their physical appearance be improved, but they’ll avoid painful matting, overgrown nails, and other health complications. In addition, there are several studies that show that regular grooming can improve your dog’s mood and health.

The average cost for a standard groom is approximately $65, but please note that there are so many variables that affect the price of grooming your dog. A dog’s size, its coat type, how long it’s been since its last groom, and many other factors go into the final price you may expect to pay for dog grooming.
